1500 Howard Students Rally for the Jena 6

On Wednesday September 5 more than 1500 Howard University students packed Howard's Cramton Hall while hundreds more rallied outside for a rally to Free The Jena 6. According to Marcus Ware, Howard University Student Association (HUSA) president, this week, more than 400 volunteers participated in educating the campus and promoting the Jena 6 rally. At the rally, students passed the hat, and vowed to raise $20,000 to send people to Jena on September 20th and for the Jena 6 legal defense team. During the rally, one student said, "Those of us who are Black, and the descendants of slaves—understand quite well—that we do not play around with nooses!"
