Needed Now: Defiance, Determination, and Resistance Beyond Acceptable Bounds

Updated December 5, 2016 | Revolution Newspaper | revcom.us

The statement “In the Name of Humanity, We REFUSE To Accept a Fascist America” says: “Trump and his regime must be resisted and defied, beginning now, in many different ways and in every corner of society.” The thousands of protesters in the streets in cities across the country, high school and college students walking out, voices of influence speaking out, and other protests in the first weeks after the election are a beginning. But defeating this fascist regime is going to take stepping way outside the bounds of what’s been considered acceptable resistance—in our thinking and in our actions—even as people fight for every legal position and against every assault on basic rights. It’s going to take a defiant and determined ethos of “Don’t Conciliate... Don’t Accommodate... Don’t Collaborate” spreading through all corners of society.

This week, we are highlighting some of the resistance actions in recent days; some of the ways that the building blocks of resistance are emerging in conversations and interactions at work, over family gatherings, calling up friends, and other ways; individuals and groups speaking out from various viewpoints. We call on readers to help revcom.us keep up with the pulse of resistance: send reports, letters, photos, videos, suggestions, etc. to us at: revolution.reports@yahoo.com.
