Full of Angst and Wondering about Beyonce

From a reader:

Off of reading Revolution newspaper, a couple of young artists went on campus at a university on Friday to participate in spreading and raising money for the BA Everywhere (BAE) Campaign and this month's focus on the film, BA Speaks: REVOLUTION—NOTHING LESS! (RNL).  One of them said that she is one of those people who are full of angst and wants to do something.  As they distributed the national BAE brochure, "Here's Step One," they grappled over how to challenge the students.  At one point, the team stopped to watch a chapter of RNL, "RESISTING THE BRAINWASH – A RADICAL REVOLT AGAINST A REVOLTING CULTURE." They said that it was cool and one of them said that she wants to buy one.  At the same time they said they didn't like how BA (Bob Avakian) talked about Beyonce because they felt that she had come from a hard life, and now can perform art.  This section had them thinking about the commodification of women and the role of art.

There was a good deal of interest in hearing about BA and RNL on the campus.  Many of the students stopped and were excited that this was being talked about and they want to find out more.  At the same time, several students said that they feel so isolated and some of them feel fearful to speak out. One question that some people had was "is this like neo-communism?"  A significant number of students had read the Communist Manifesto and asked if BA's new synthesis is based on what Marx wrote?

A professor also stopped by and said that he had bought a copy of RNL last semester and had shown it in his classes twice and he is planning on doing it again with a panel discussion this time.  He said that he was in a rush at the time, and set up to meet next week to talk about BAE and his experience in showing the RNL film.

Interspersed on both days, a team of people went out to street corners and shopping areas (near the campus) and challenged people to donate $5 to BAE and get connected with Revolution newspaper. There was an enlargement of the recent cover from Revolution and people passed out the BAE brochure. Many people stopped to make donations off of the brochure, "Contribute to BA Everywhere! The World Needs to Be Radically Changed. Here’s Step One."
