Over the last month, a much-needed debate and conversation about the oppression of Black people in the USA has ripped open on a national level—from Ta-Nehisi Coates' "The Case for Reparations" in The Atlantic to the New York Times' editorial calling for the end of mass incarceration.

Coates' searing, factual and unrelenting indictment of the history and foundation of American wealth starts with these words:

    250 years of slavery.
    90 years of Jim Crow.
60 years of separate but equal.
35 years of racist housing policy.
Until we reckon with our compounding moral debts, America will never be whole.

I am writing to you because I know you to be someone who wants to see a future worthy of human beings and who hurts each day new lives are foreclosed on and stolen by this system. I urge you to donate to BA Everywhere. This campaign aims at no less than bringing Avakian's vital and viable revolutionary vision and strategy into nation-wide prominence—provoking essential debate over real causes and solutions. Without this, calls for cosmetic changes leave the rotten core of this country intact.

Let's sit down soon to discuss your contribution to BA Everywhere.

What sort of culture do we live that allows half of its population to live in fear because the other half feels entitled? The recent mass murder in Santa Barbara has led to an intensified focus on the oppression of women – grief and rage burst out in street protests and in a Twitter campaign, #YesAllWomen", with messages like "Not all men harass women but ALL women at some point have been harassed by men." The Twitter campaign went viral.

I am writing to you because this is not how the world has to be – it could be, and should be, radically different and better. Bob Avakian has not only named this insanity but has put forward a solution to it-communist revolution that is about liberating all of humanity. Contribute to the BA Everywhere Campaign so that people all over the world know that the world does not have to be this way. Please visit revcom.us to learn more about how BA's new synthesis re-envisions communism – including taking as a touchstone question the uprooting of patriarchy and all of tradition's chains.
