A State of Emergency...A World That Cries Out for Revolution

Look, we’re facing a state of emergency. Genocide in Gaza...women stripped of the right to abortion...the climate crisis careening towards catastrophe...the growing danger of world war. Capitalism-imperialism is the cause of this—with the U.S. the #1 oppressor and plunderer in the world. 

But there IS a way out of this horror: a liberatory revolution guided by the new communism. And we’re living in a rare time when that revolution is not only more needed but more possible. The Republi-fascists and war-criminal Democrats are at each other’s throats; society is being ripped apart. And when the slave-masters are fighting each other, that creates more openings for the slaves to rise up to overthrow them.

But communist revolution has been ruled off the agenda. You’ve been told and taught in a million different ways that the Russian and Chinese revolutions were “utopian projects” that turned into “totalitarian nightmares.” Yeah, the storyline goes, capitalism may have its flaws, but communism is going to lead to “total control,” “mass conformity,” and “senseless violence.” 

Well, this is self-serving bullshit drilled into people’s heads by this nightmare of a system—by its “experts” and ideologues to keep you locked into the system. The verdict that communism is a failure is built on lies and distortions. Think about the lies justifying Israel’s genocidal war and America’s “unstinting support for a bastion of enlightenment.” Well, multiply that a 1000-fold when it comes to the lies and slanders about communism. This puts a lid on people’s capacity to conceive of a world beyond capitalism.

Yet because of the work done by Bob Avakian, there is not only a way to scientifically understand the momentous, liberatory breakthroughs, as well as the errors, even grievous errors, of the socialist revolutions in the Soviet Union (1917-56) and China (1949-76). There is now a way to go beyond them... to a qualitatively more emancipating future. A core feature of the new communism is the importance in socialist society of intellectual and cultural ferment, and the protection and promotion of dissent, way beyond anything that has existed in this society—indeed on a scale unseen in human history. In a framework of a society moving to end all exploitation and oppression.
